Is it true that you have not undergone any artistic training?

    January 10, 2009

Let’s put it this way… So far, in my waking life during this lifetime, I have not attended art school or art classes for photography, painting, graphic design, digital design, and/or related disciplines. I did take your standard arts and crafts classes in grade school and junior high. Before then, I also took like 3 weeks of singing lessons I can hardly remember. When in college, I joined a theater group for about 4 years, and then sometime later enrolled in a 2 year program in method acting at the School of Fine Arts in Santo Domingo. I completed a BS in Psychology, a postgraduate certificate in Gender and Development Studies, and am currently in graduate school for Sociology.

The artwork I am sharing here takes form as an extension of my spiritual practice; it flows from inspiration, intuition, and experimentation. Whichever technique or media I use I learn as I go along. Go here for a bit more info about this.

    What is your spiritual background?

    November 5, 2008

I AM a Child of the Light. I enjoy mystical esotericism, shamanism, and Ascended Master Teachings. I am an apprentice in the holistic sciences to a very special and gifted being. I work to establish a better communication with my Inner Voice, my Dear Angels, my Higher Presence, the Sun, the Moon, the stars, and all beings of Light, as part of bringing about radical change in our consciousness and activities on this Earth. I apply and practice spirituality concretely via holistic health, nutrition, different modalities of healing, and artistic expression. I am also interested in understanding the way social structures shape and, to a certain extent, attempt to 'define' reality.

I believe that spirituality permeates all aspects of our lives and that a reflexive understanding of this can greatly benefit our social, economic, political [etc] situation. Do note, the way I speak of and experience spirituality does not necessarily coincide with religion. In fact, I believe that religious dogma, fanatism [etc] do a very good job at blocking out spiritual growth – but that’s another topic.

I was born and brought up in a predominantly Catholic country and in a family that does not really practice the religion. My mom is a bit of a reason-guided, critical new agey, and my dad has a strong sense of ethics and translates ‘faith’ into good intentions, reasonable action, and full responsibility for yourself and what you do. At fifteen I began studying the teachings of Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov. Shortly after I had an interesting experience while studying Tarot and put divination on halt. I was later introduced to Jiddu Krishnamurti and followed along and studied a bit of Theosophy. Shortly after Life led me to my Dear Teacher, and I continue to work under her Light and guidance.

    What is the Cosmic Sensorium?

    November 5, 2008

The Cosmic Sensorium is my little project aimed at expanding our sensory perception to facilitate our consciousness of a wider range of events, beings, and realities – with art as both process and outcome. The term 'Cosmos' usually refers to all of manifest existence, including various realms of consciousness, while 'cosmic' refers to something that pertains to the cosmos, or something that is immeasurably vast. Sensorium speaks to the complex combination of an organism's perceptions; the "seat of sensation", where we experience and interpret the environments within which we live.

So, my art encompasses my wish to understand, share, and communicate interdimensional experiences in a way that is more accessible to our senses; while at the same time encouraging the development of more subtle types of awareness, allowing us to go beyond ordinary, habitual perception and into a state of affinity with the Divine in ourselves and the everyday. >>>Read More.

What is Synthasite? (update: Synthasite is now Yola)

    November 5, 2008

Synthasite, now more commonly known as Yola, is a free, online, widget-based, what-you-see-is-what-you-get web builder. I design and update this site with their tools. I also host it with them – and hosting is absolutely free as well. Their customer service is spectacular and the user community is truly a community – a lot of interaction, support, learning, and sharing of ideas goes down in the forums. Do check them out!

You can also check out Vinny Lingham's elevator pitch at TechCrunch (Vinny is Synthasite's CEO).
