    What is Mystic Visionary Art?

Posted by Diógenes Lamarche on Monday, January 19, 2009, In : Artwork & Info

Simply put and as I experience it, mystic visionary art is art that comes from heightened states of consciousness; it expresses or pursues a conscious awareness of divinity and truth. For me these heightened states usually include different modes of meditation, dream work, introspection, insight, exaltation, inspiration… channeled by intuition and a sense of being guided from beyond; a sense of letting go and stepping in the flow. Experiencing mystic visionary art at different levels –inc...

How do you make your artwork and mandalas?

Posted by Diógenes Lamarche on Monday, January 19, 2009, In : Artwork & Info

I may be writing a more detailed article about this sometime in the future, wherever that is. Do check back!

There are various things to consider when answering this question, for example: inspiration, vision, embarking on the path of creation, finding the flow within the path, and using technique. While some of these are still a mystery to me, I will outline some of the more tangible parts of my process, which is always and of course subject to change.

Most of my mandalas usually start out w...

    Is this fractal art?

Posted by Diógenes Lamarche on Monday, January 19, 2009, In : Artwork & Info

This is a question that pops up very often, as some of my artwork may seem to include fractals or fractal-like patterns.  There's a few reasons for this. Fractals are naturally-occurring at both macro-cosmic and micro-cosmic levels; they can be found everywhere in nature. They are particularly noticeable in snowflakes, the growth of vegetation, the swirls that come up when mixing milk and coffee, and in the way crystals, clouds, mountains, and galaxies grow and develop, among others. There ar...

    What do the mandalas mean?

Posted by Diógenes Lamarche on Monday, January 19, 2009, In : Artwork & Info

I don’t have a clear, definite answer for this… and if I did, where would all the fun go? Actually, if such an answer existed, I doubt that verbal communication would suffice to articulate it… But not trying to articulate is also avoiding the fun.

Each mandala carries with it a multitude of different meanings, while at the same time, each mandala hints at some sort of ‘essential truth’. Mystics and sages from different backgrounds and time periods have coincided: the truth that ca...

    What is a mandala?

Posted by Diógenes Lamarche on Monday, January 19, 2009, In : Artwork & Info

First off, not all of my pieces are necessarily mandalas. I guess that in part it depends on your outlook on life. And on how we define mandala. Here is a quick overview, and here is a full article, part 1 of a series that will continue to grow.

How do you achieve such high-quality fine art prints?

Posted by Diógenes Lamarche on Monday, January 19, 2009, In : Prints

Our prints are so wonderful for a few simple reasons. First, you need a high-quality image to achieve a high-quality print. Also, we adhere to the highest printing standards available today. We only use a Giclée printing system which is commonly found in museums and fine art galleries, even for our open edition prints. This printing system combines the new Ultra-Chrome K3 pigmented inkset from Epson, with Epson's Enhanced Matte heavy weight archival paper. This combination yields highly sat...

Will the printed artwork match the image on my screen?

Posted by Diógenes Lamarche on Monday, January 19, 2009, In : Prints

First off, printed images do not include the copyright watermark as viewed on your screen. Second, in order to have a quick-loading, navigation-friendly website, and to protect my artwork, the image on your screen is a scaled down, compressed, low resolution version of the original. Third, most internet browsers "safely" display images in 256 color mode. Other colors may be displayed differently depending on your system, monitor, and computer settings. So the colors I see in my monitor may be...

    What is a Giclee Print?

Posted by Diógenes Lamarche on Monday, January 19, 2009, In : Prints

A Giclée ("properly" pronounced zhee-clay and sometimes spelled "Gyclée", "Glycée" or "Glicée", or without the accents) is the highest apparent resolution fine art print available today, made with state of the art printing technologies. The term is a neologism derived from a French root meaning squirting or spraying of ink – this is because the patented printing technology forms the image by squirting microscopically fine ink droplets on the medium, usually somewhere around 1,800 dots p...

    Will my print arrive safely?

Posted by Diógenes Lamarche on Monday, January 19, 2009, In : Shipping

To ensure that you receive top quality prints, our packaging method exceeds industry standards. Your artwork will be handled with as much care as possible and will be shipped to you well wrapped and protected. We carefully package our prints following one of two different methods, depending on order size and volume:

    1. We use anti-crush, extra rigid mailing tubes, or

    2. We use two different-sized mailing tubes, one inside the other, with a layer of cushioning between the tubes.

Is it true that you have not undergone any artistic training?

Posted by Diógenes Lamarche on Saturday, January 10, 2009, In : Artwork & Info

Let’s put it this way… So far, in my waking life during this lifetime, I have not attended art school or art classes for photography, painting, graphic design, digital design, and/or related disciplines. I did take your standard arts and crafts classes in grade school and junior high. Before then, I also took like 3 weeks of singing lessons I can hardly remember. When in college, I joined a theater group for about 4 years, and then sometime later enrolled in a 2 year program in method act...

    What is the Cosmic Sensorium?

Posted by Diógenes Lamarche on Wednesday, November 5, 2008, In : Artwork & Info

The Cosmic Sensorium is my little project aimed at expanding our sensory perception to facilitate our consciousness of a wider range of events, beings, and realities – with art as both process and outcome. The term 'Cosmos' usually refers to all of manifest existence, including various realms of consciousness, while 'cosmic' refers to something that pertains to the cosmos, or something that is immeasurably vast. Sensorium speaks to the complex combination of an organism's perceptions; the "...

What is Synthasite? (update: Synthasite is now Yola)

Posted by Diógenes Lamarche on Wednesday, November 5, 2008,

Synthasite, now more commonly known as Yola, is a free, online, widget-based, what-you-see-is-what-you-get web builder. I design and update this site with their tools. I also host it with them – and hosting is absolutely free as well. Their customer service is spectacular and the user community is truly a community – a lot of interaction, support, learning, and sharing of ideas goes down in the forums. Do check them out!
