Spectral Cleanse: My First Mandala

January 14, 2009

I had played with Lu’s camera a few times before. I took the first set of photographs that ended up as mandalas on a day on which, like any other, I left home and walked to work. I just happened to bring the camera with me. When walking alone, I usually make conscious use of my time and enter into a walking meditation, enjoying everything the day has to offer, be it sunlight, bird songs and the caressing of the wind; be it snow, rain, or falling leaves. I take the time to be thankful towards the trees, the clouds, this planet that provides me with a home and all the things I need, the Angels and Teachers I am working with, and the Life that flows through me and all things. I take the time to broaden my consciousness as to how my bodies work, the way I use energy in breathing, thinking, walking, being, blinking, feeling, creating… and invite the Light to consciously flow through me, my surroundings, and my world. I silently wish a good day to everyone and everything that crosses my path, including horn-honking drivers, squirrels, the mail person, slugs. Wonderful things happen and perhaps I will write about some of these some other time.

So the day on which I walked to work with Lu’s camera, I started clicking away in this meditative state. Time just flew by and I got to work about three or four hours late. When examining the pictures later on, I started noticing peculiar patterns in the images. I felt guided to play with one of them, and the result was this rather odd, inviting composition. Upon further examination, I started to see into the composition and was guided into an active meditative state, similar to the one I had been in when I took the picture, but rather deeper, more concise, and a bit more focused.

A few days later, I was working with what turned out to be my first full mandala, “Spectral Cleanse”. I again started to see into the composition (kind of like going down the rabbit hole, or dreaming of flying above the clouds) as I played with the image. I then left town for a weekend to learn about crystals and earn a few extra bucks while working a booth at a Crystal & Healing Stone shop in the Body, Mind, Spirit Expo. After a busy 12 hour work day, asleep in a dream I saw my body burning and being pulled apart in different directions. Two pyramidal tetrahedrons pierced my being: one from above urging me to center on Earth's gravity, the other from below urging me to focus on ascension.

I awoke in this dream, and as an observer saw how the denser parts of me burned, leaving behind a residue out of which arose a consciousness that linked me to infinity - the pyramids intersected in balance. Phenacite (a very intense stone that drew on my attention throughout the day) spoke in plural and revealed its crystalline structure. I awoke once again, this time to find myself  back in the hotel room. During breakfast, I used a napkin to jot down what I thought was the crystalline structure of this stone, as I had seen it in the dream. Upon returning home, I again worked with the image, and in it, started to join the dots of what turned out to be Metatron’s Cube –

– it roughly does coincide with Phenacite’s structure when viewed at some odd angle. It had been there, as if hidden in the image, all along. Once completed, I printed the mandala. To my surprise, a myriad of details that I had not noticed on the computer screen suddenly came alive. Having an actual print in front of me allowed me to work at a different level. Intuitively, I tried different types of meditation, and in doing this, I started to see further and further into the mandala and into myself.

Among many of the wonderful experiences I’ve had with Spectral Cleanse, it helped me to see, transmute, and release a bunch of stuff that I was dragging along in my energy field – in the form of recurring thoughts, fears, fragmented memories, habits, pains, and self-imposed limitations. I began to see how many of these were of my own creation, either in the form of irreflexive reactions, misqualified energy, or just ignorance. Going through this cleansing process has significantly increased my awareness. Also, freeing up this energy was like dropping off a few weights from my energetic bodies. One way in which I began to see this was that I started dreaming more freely: my dreams were clearer, I began to achieve more consciousness of what my dreams were and what I could do in them, and I began to recall a lot more of them (keeping a dream log, or painting what you see in your dreams is also very very helpful). The cleansing also allowed me to more clearly focus my energy and to have more mental clarity. Nonetheless, some of the habits and thought forms had been slightly more ingrained in my outer form, and their recursiveness had generated something like a big pile of junk that would not easily fit in the garbage truck. Hence, Spectral Cleanse helped me to see ways in which I could use this junk as fuel and fertilizer for the flowering of different abilities.

The experience of accessing such meditative states with my eyes open while looking at mandala (either while working on it or just contemplating) was also quite a novelty for me. It taught me to see further into myself and the world around. I felt that this mandala was truly a blessing and I thought that perhaps it would be the only one I would ever make. I looked at the print and all the things that were in it, and in awe just thought: to do something like this again will probably take a lifetime. I couldn’t even make the same one again, as in making it I just followed my intuition and took some steps that I didn’t remember and could not replicate. Nonetheless, I continue on this practice of combining walking meditation, photography, and playing with the images as a way to develop my intuition and inner sight, and in time, other mandalas have come; each with it’s special energy and each in a way that I cannot replicate. Some come straight from the dream world; others come from meditation and what I’ve loosely started calling “visionary experiences”. This whole process has initiated me into the study of sacred geometry and color therapy, while inviting me into new experiential dimensions of mystical esotericism, supra-ordinary states of consciousness, primordial symbolism, and graphic design.

Visionary Art: Thoughts and Feelings on Traditional and Digital Media

December 28, 2008

So far, in my waking life during this lifetime, I have not had any artistic training – just the vision, the will to follow it, attempt to understand it (for lack of a better word), create/translate it into something I can experience freshly without relying too heavily on memory or written words, and just work towards establishing more explicit links and portals between other realms and my day-to-day. Also, a lot of the work I do seems to just come through me, and putting it in a form that ...

First Post: What is the Cosmic Sensorium?

October 26, 2008

The Cosmic Sensorium is how I think of expanding our sensory perception to facilitate our consciousness of a wider range of events, beings, and realities. Here you will find some of my explorations into inner and outer space, and the way they link to everything else. Hence my interest in rescuing objects, faces, scenery, and instances in my day-to-day life that may go unnoticed (via photography), and my will to (re?)create different visions and insights (via visionary art, mandalas and "groun...
